When I was a kid, an apple felt like a luxury.
I had a classmate whose father worked in America. They were well-off—everything she wanted, she had. Fried chicken, delicious biscuits, ice cream, hotdogs… things I could only dream of having often.
One day, she was eating an apple.
I asked for a bite—just to know what it tasted like.
She said, “It’s not delicious.”
Then she casually threw the apple away.
I watched it roll on the ground.
I wanted to pick it up so badly.
But in my mind, I told myself:
“Makakatikim din ako niyan.”
One day, I will taste it too.
Today, I can buy apples anytime I want.
They’re no longer hard to get.
But every apple I eat still carries a story—
of patience, dignity, and a quiet promise I made to myself as a child.
And This is my luxury shift. 🍎✨

So true sissy , i could relate .Mom used to buy such during Christmas for noche buena at tig iisa kaming magkakapatid . Only once a year we could have eat an apple hehe! That feeling when we have those things now made that thing or food extra special now not because we can afford it now but the connection from childhood that we valued such simple things until now. Nakikita mopa ba now yung tao na yun ? Buhusan mo apple cider or batuhin mo kasama yung bote jahaha! chaar! 😜 Thank you sissykoy😻❤️
