Sales orders at all-time high, people getting sent home there is so little work
Trying to be vague intentionally. At an all-company meeting, there are graphs shown depicting record sales, including 30% growth in sales orders for the next two quarters. However, the company already cannot keep up with the supply chain of parts required to satisfy current orders.
Entire assembly lines are being sent home either unpaid or forced to burn vacation time due to lack of work. Some people are being assigned from their depleted departments to other departments. Management's kids, instead of getting sent home and losing money, are allowed to push a broom for 16 hours straight in the same spot when the rest of their area was already sent home. Which in of itself is a punishment if you ask me.
Projects are getting pushed, and customers are getting frustrated with the lack of progress due to part shortages. Yet new projects are being taken on, and it's not being communicated what's being done to improve the systems.
My department has no work for the next week, and the boss is on vacation for the next week with no direct report taking their place. I don't understand how companies survive decades operating like this.
