🌊 An ice-and-rock avalanche triggered flash floods in Nepal’s Rasuwa area on Wednesday, killing at least eight people and leaving 384 tourists reported missing, according to Associated Press.

The flood swept through the Bhotekoshi river system at about 9 a.m., damaging villages, roads and hydropower projects. Nepal said 291 of the missing tourists were from India, the United States, the United Kingdom and Malaysia.

âš¡ The Nepal Electricity Authority said the flooding damaged several power plants and a 220 kV substation, disrupting electricity supply in Rasuwa and surrounding areas. Officials said a fuller assessment of damage to homes, roads and bridges was still under way.

Authorities warned people away from river corridors and said rescue and restoration efforts were continuing. The Nepali government requested assistance from India and China.
