Authorities warned of renewed flooding after water levels rose in the Bhotekoshi River. A newly formed upstream lake had largely drained, but an upstream crater holding an estimated 1.4 million cubic metres of water remained under monitoring. ⚠️
The 26 August collapse in Nepal's Langtang National Park sent ice, rock and water down mountain channels, creating a debris flow and flood that the USGS said travelled about 100 kilometres. Roads, bridges, homes and hydropower facilities were damaged.
Rescuers continued searches in mud and damaged valleys, including at the Trishuli 3A hydropower site, where workers were believed trapped in a tunnel. Recovery efforts remain constrained by flood risk and disrupted access.
