PAP Candidates for SK GRC as GOH for new citizenship ceremony

“If we talk about Sengkang GRC, we are not an incumbent. We do not have the resources of the town council,” noted Dr Lam, who was a senior minister of state before losing in Sengkang GRC in 2020. “And we find that as a challenger, you're always facing more challenges compared to somebody who is an incumbent in the GRC.” This perspective was carried in a Channel News Asia article this afternoon.
I was a little surprised to read this one-dimensional perspective of the "resources" available to losing PAP candidates who are commonly appointed as Grassroots Advisers by the People's Association, or who work hand in glove with the appointed Grassroots Adviser as PAP branch chairmen.

"Quite simply, if the developments in Sengkang GRC are anything to go by, voting for a WP candidate as your Member of Parliament will mean that the voter now has, not two, but three representatives to look after their interests in the constituency. First, an apparently apolitical Grassroots Adviser managing the PA grassroots organisations such as the CCC, CCMC, RCs and NCs; Second, a PAP Branch Chairman who leans on the PA for political ends with the PA’s blessings and finally, a WP MP in Parliament who ensures we have independent checks and balances in Parliament, and a fairer political system in Singapore.”
