Good afternoon, friends! ☀️
I hope you’re all having a fabulous day and at least pretending to be productive (I see you scrolling). 😄These days I’ll be a little busier than usual, life is doing that thing where it schedules everything at once, but don’t worry, I’ll always pop in as soon as I reach home. You can’t get rid of me that easily! 🤣
On a slightly more serious note, after the recent heavy rains and flooding in many parts of the island, several cases of Leptospirosis have been reported, and sadly 3 deaths. Not sharing this to be dramatic, just to keep everyone gently informed. When the weather turns the island into a giant waterpark (that nobody asked for), health risks can increase.
And honestly, you can imagine how it is for social workers in that situation, out there in the mud, the rain, the chaos, helping families while probably wishing they had superhero boots and a teleport button.
The countries/places currently reporting leptospirosis cases or outbreaks are Jamaica, Reunion Island (France), Mauritius, French Polynesia , Fiji, France (Mainland). It may not always be in the news every day, but local health authorities often monitor it regularly even without major headlines.
So just a soft reminder to take care of yourselves. If you can avoid walking through flood water, do. If you must, proper footwear is your best friend. And if you’re feeling unwell, fever, body aches, headaches, please don’t just “Google and pray.” Get checked early. It really helps.
Let’s stay safe, stay dry, stay kind, and maybe stay indoors a little more when the rain decides to audition for a disaster movie. Please take care of yourselves. We’ll get through this ,we always do. 💛
I’ll be back soon with my usual nonsense and updates once I get home. 💛
