Will white/black dwarves ever burn their carbon and oxygen?
I know that the temperature and pressure of white dwarves is too great for CO2 to be stable, and that it will take trillions or more years for any to cool down into the thousands of K. But... eventually, will they get to a point where their carbon and oxygen could burn together? Is there a brief period of a white dwarf's long retirement when it lights up again through actual fire?
I'm no professional, all my knowledge comes from wikipedia, but I couldn't find an answer to this readily available on google
