Has anyone here ever felt like they left behind the kind of photography they truly loved? I hate it!
I used to shoot fashion and editorial, traveling to NYC about once a month, creating projects just for the love of it and I honestly felt so alive doing that.
At some point, I thought opening my own studio and building something locally would be the right move.
The reality is… where I live, fashion isn’t really appreciated or supported. I slowly shifted into commercial work families, maternity, babies. At first, it made sense because it paid the bills. But over time, I realized I actually hate it! I can not stand the same poses and shit.
Now I feel stuck. Burnt out. Anxious. Even ghosting inquiries because the disappointment and pressure have taken the joy out of picking up my camera at all.
I’m sharing this to ask:
Have any of you gone through this identity shift as photographers?
How did you reconnect with your creative work or did you pivot again?
