Are we supposed to know the race of the attackers? Most of the characters introduced so far in the book seemed to be white South Africans, and I assumed that the attackers at Lucy's farm were also white South Africans. However, it was only on page 110 that I first found a reference to the race of the attackers, where David imagines how much pleasure they must have taken in killing the dogs, as the dogs are a tool and symbol of the black man's oppression.
Are there clues earlier in the text that make the attackers race clear? Am I the only one who assumed they were white? #entertainment
