A BOOK "NOT OF THIS WORLD"

If you were to ask a leading book expert whether, in his or her opinion, an "extraterrestrial book" exists on Earth, he or she would surely reply: "maybe one, but we can't be sure". What is this book?

In fact, this book has no real name. It bears the name of an antiquarian who bought it in 1912, and is therefore called the "Voynich Manuscript". Academics and scientists on the other side of the world have been studying it for around a century, but no one has been able to find the key to this enigma.

According to radiocarbon tests, the book should date back to around 1400 AD. But that's the only thing we know for sure. Otherwise, we're groping in the dark. What's so special about this book that many people consider it "extraterrestrial"? The book is written in a non-existent language, never before seen on the face of the earth. It uses an alphabet we don't know. A few years ago, a researcher claimed that it was a pre-Roman language, but he offered no proof, only his intuition. Many newspapers claimed that "the key" had been found. The theory was soon forgotten.

But that's not all. The book is richly illustrated by hand. From here, we can vaguely understand the theme of each section of the book. But rather than helping us unravel the mystery, these illustrations complicate it enormously. But according to botanists, these plants (although similar to ours) are species that hardly exist on Earth. So where do they come from?

Connected women and strange pipes appear, as if in an engine. Strange light bulbs, structures that seem to describe a planet. But in reality, nobody knows what they are. Was the book written by a "mad scientist"? Or did an amanuensis from the 1400s want to copy, in his own way, a very ancient text he'd found who knows where?

The prestigious Yale University is making the text public in PDF format, in the hope that someone will be able to decipher it. In fact, there is a precedent. In his account, Plato states that a politician of the past, Solon, had access to a very ancient text that had been translated into Egyptian by the priests of Sais. From this text, he derived many notions about humanity's past. One of these was the existence of the "People of Ma", which he later translated into Greek as "Atlantis". Is the "Voynich Manuscript" another such text? Unfortunately, this time the translator seems to be missing.
