p U.S. olicy on surrendering?
Yesterday I finished doing online SERE training and it reiterates the point that we absolutely *cannot* surrender no matter what and that we must resist by any means necessary; however, getting *captured* is a different matter especially if you were kidnapped.
Scenario: your platoon is tasked with defending a friendly and strategically located village. One day, the enemy with superior firepower and numbers overwhelm your position and have you surrounded. Their CO said that if the platoon doesn’t surrender, then they’re gonna kill all of the boys and men in the village while they rape the women.
Where do you draw the line between surrendering and being captured? In the scenario above, what’s the right course of action? Do you surrender? Abandon the village and escape to friendly lines? Fight to the last?
