Bundesfreiwilligendienst to Ausbildung
Hi everyone,
I am currently doing a Bundesfreiwilligendienst in one Bundesland and will start an Ausbildung in Hamburg in August 2026. I plan to move to Hamburg around July.
I currently have a residence permit for my BFD and need to switch it to a residence permit for vocational training (Ausbildung).
My question is: Which Ausländerbehörde is responsible for processing this change?
Should I apply through the Ausländerbehörde at my current place of residence, or should I apply through the Ausländerbehörde responsible for my future address in Hamburg?
Has anyone been in a similar situation and can share their experience?
