Ktm duke 390 or Kawasaki ninja 500/z500
I’m looking into getting a street bike. I come from dirtbiking and I was going to get a dual sport but the closest trails are about an hour away and I want a bike a bit quicker than my 250 that still have longer maintenance intervals which basically zero dual sports have. My dad made a good point to just go street as it will be much funner going on longer trips and riding in the twisties over compromising comfort and performance for some mediocre trail performance. I really enjoyed riding the duke 200 at the rsm course (kinda like the msf where I live), which is why I want a street bike and also why I’m looking at the 390. I want a nimble fun bike that can still go 80-120 kph comfortably for longer trips while still being in the beginner class of bikes because insurance is a bitch where I live until i get a bit older.
I’m leaning towards the z500 over the ninja 500 as insurance is stupid here, they give cheaper insurance to a hayabusa over a gxsr750 just because the hayabusa is a sports Touring.
I also really like the cbr500r, love the way it looks
