Going to the San Fernando Valley on foot from Central LA/the Westside?

I run as a hobby, and I use the app Wandrer to track where in the city I've run. I'm really into maps and seeing how much of the city I can cover and as someone who primarily drives to get around, it's really changed how I see the city when I can imagine different routes I've taken on foot to get around.

Anyway, I've been trying to figure out how to get over the mountains to the San Fernando Valley safely on foot (ideally along roads also used for driving, but I'm open). I'm planning on going around the mountains from Los Feliz through Glendale/Burbank to North Hollywood metro station (I like to take the train so I don't have to start and end in the same place) soon, but I'd love to figure out other ways to do it. A lot of the canyon roads seem pretty iffy and sidewalkless. Maybe Sepulveda??

Anyone else into this kind of thing or have any insights?? Thank you!
