Thinking of taking a break from photography
I’ve been taking photos for the past 3 years and I shoot mostly analog. It used to be fun - when I first started it was just a hobby, I didn’t care if I was good at it or not, and I would sometimes share my photos on Instagram, again just for fun. With time though, some of my photos got lots of compliments from friends and strangers and my posts would get lots of engagement and likes, and I started to take it a little bit more seriously and I’ve shot a few engagement shoots for clients too. Recently I’ve been feeling super discouraged for a few silly reasons:
\- I feel like I’m not improving and if anything I think my photos are getting worse and worse
\- my photos are barely getting any likes on Instagram. I know I shouldn’t care about likes and that it doesn’t really mean much but I can’t help but feel like it must mean I’m a bad photographer
\- all of these self doubts is taking the fun out of it a bit. I still really enjoy the process of shooting but I started to dread editing my photos and constantly worry about what if my photos turn out to be bad.
I still love photography and I have a bunch of creative ideas that I can’t wait to try out! But at the same time the need for validation and self doubt is also making it less fun. I don’t know why I’m posting this I just feel kinda sad. Thanks for listening.
