Hoagy Carmichael & His Pals - Stardust (Instrumental) - 1927
One of the most performed and recorded songs in American history, presented in its original, commercially released form [first recording] as a mid-tempo jazz instrumental (Mitchell Parish’s lyrics weren’t added until 1929). Carmichael recorded the tune several more times over the years at the more familiar slower tempo. The original 78rpm single was issued on Gennett 6311 - Stardust (Carmichael) by Hoagy Carmichael & His Pals, recorded in Richmond, IN, October 31, 1927.
