I picked her up early this week. It’s been a while since I have been eyeing W800 and the right one came up in the market. I had to go for it.
The nature of my job has me deep in the tech and digital world (all that AI stuff lately…) and it’s been making me yearn for something more tactile, analogue, and authentic.
I always admired the 60’s and 70’s era of bike culture, but did not want to deal with the reliability of the classic and vintage bikes from that era. Royal Enfield… I know they are much better now… but somehow, I never felt attached to their bikes… Kawasaki is another brand I had no affection for really… until I learned about their W series and the history behind it.
Well, long story short… here she is. This is the picture from when I first picked her up. I did extensive research on the W800. But nothing prepared me for the feeling of the actual bike. True 360 degrees parallel twin with the bevel drive… there is nothing like it out there in the market today.
And the build quality… oh man… you have to see it and touch it to believe it!
It looks like they are winding down the sales of this true retro bikes because of emission laws. I wish more will have chance to experience W800 before they are gone.
