Building a long-range intercom. Need your feedback!!!
I’m currently doing some research and have a components list ready to build an intercom poc. The goal is to solve the constant disconnection issues we face on our roads. My target is a 3-5km rider gap and support for 10-15 riders in a group without the signal breaking up.
The general problem with current gear is that once the distance increases or if there's heavy traffic/mountain bends, the connection gets distorted or drops completely. I've faced this personally with the BluArmor C30 (now have Sena 60s) and a group of 5 riders where line of sight was lost.
The Key Feature:
I'm working on making this a completely open network. Imagine a mesh where any brand's intercom or even a basic Bluetooth headset could connect seamlessly. No brand lock-in anymore.
If there was a device that maintained a solid link through gaps and obstacles without worries, would you see it as a game-changer? Or are most people okay with existing Mesh/BT limits (2.4ghz BT mesh) as long as it's budget-friendly?
Just trying to see if this 'POC' is worth the effort before I dive into the build.
