Apple TV+ has renewed the sci-fi series Foundation, based on the series of novels by Isaac Asimov, for a third season.
“I’m thrilled that Apple has given us the opportunity to continue Asimov’s groundbreaking galactic saga. This time around, the stakes for the Foundation and the Empire are even higher as the Mule comes to the fore alongside fan favorites Bayta, Toran, Ebling and Magnifico Giganticus,” shared showrunner David S. Goyer, who will return for season three.
According to the plot of the series, humanity has settled on different planets of the universe, which are controlled by the powerful Galactic Empire. After psychohistorian Gary Seldon calculates the imminent collapse of the current order, he decides to gather the best minds of humanity and send them to live on the far side of the Galaxy in order to preserve the accumulated knowledge and quickly overcome the inevitable period of barbarism.
The second season of the show premiered this summer. Its action took place a hundred years after the ending of the first part. In the story, a vengeful queen plots to destroy the empire from within. Gaal and Salvor discover a colony of people with psionic powers that can change psychohistory. Meanwhile, the Foundation, which has come into conflict with the Empire, must overcome a second crisis.
