Electric Bill $800 During Summer?!
This month's electric bill is nearly $800. Last summer, we had two bills at $700, and almost $900 in August. We have a 2,000 sqft home, two people, normal living situations other than 1) WFH setups 2) Reef tank, with Kessil LED lights.
Last summer, I honestly thought it was us just overusing air-con etc. It's an original unit (1998), and it's definitely on it's way out. Takes longer to cool down, struggles to keep up in 90F+ weather. However, this summer, we've been keeping our house around 68-70F, and the bill is still unbelievably high.
Something else has to be going on here, right? It can't simply be just an inefficient AC causing this high of bills, right? I'm going to call the electric company and just see if maybe they can give me some more info - but wanted opinions and perspectives first.
