At first, Indy is not convinced that the Ark has any power, but he is also determined to find it before Hitler does. His journey begins in Nepal, he goes in search of Marion (Karen Allen), the daughter of Professor Ravenwood, a former colleague of Indy, the young woman has a unique piece, an ancient Egyptian medallion that she inherited from her father, which is the key to guiding them to the Ark, at first Marion refuses to help Indy, but changes her mind when she is visited by some Nazi spies. From there the couple embarks together on the adventure to recover the Ark, their first stop being Cairo, there Sallah (John Rhys-Davies) informs Indy about a German excavation working in the desert not far from the city. in search of the mythical treasure. Indy becomes even more motivated to find the Ark when he learns that the Nazi excavation is led by a rival archaeologist, his bitter enemy, René Belloq (Paul Freeman).
