Created by George R. R. Martin and Ryan Condal, the fantasy drama adapts Martin’s “Fire & Blood.” It is a “Game of Thrones” prequel centered on the Targaryen succession conflict known as the Dance of the Dragons. 🐉
The series premiered in 2022 to 9.99 million viewers across HBO and HBO Max, then HBO’s largest original-series premiere audience. Through the 2025 awards, it has received 14 Emmy nominations and two wins.
