🇨🇦 Prime Minister Mark Carney opened the Canada Investment Summit in Toronto, bringing together about 300 executives from investment firms that collectively manage more than $120 trillion, according to the Associated Press.
The two-day gathering is Canada’s first national investment summit. It is hosted by the federal government with CPP Investments and PSP Investments and is intended to connect long-term capital with Canadian projects.
📰 Organizers are highlighting opportunities in energy, critical minerals, technology, defence, advanced manufacturing and infrastructure. The government says the forum supports a plan to catalyse $1 trillion in total investment over five years.
The event comes as a Canada–U.S. trade dispute has increased uncertainty over access to the U.S. market. AP reported that officials do not expect a rush of deals during the summit, with significant results more likely to emerge over the next 12 to 18 months. 📈
