The Ocean That No Longer Belongs to Fish
#WorldOceanMonth

https://splot.io/the-ocean-that-no-longer-belongs-to-fish/

I created this NFT to symbolize how devastated our oceans have become.
Yes — many beaches and popular tourist spots still appear pristine. In photos, the water glows beneath the sun. The sand looks soft enough to sink into. The waves seem gentle, like they’re calling you in. Places like Boracay are praised for their beauty — and they truly are beautiful. People go there to escape, to feel peace, to breathe a little easier.

But not all coastlines are part of the story we share.

In island nations where tourism is concentrated in a few well-kept areas, so many other shores are overlooked — unmaintained, unprotected, and quietly forgotten. These are the beaches that don’t get cleaned for guests, the waters that never make it into travel vlogs. And in those places, something heartbreaking becomes clear: the ocean is no longer a home for fish — it has become a dumping ground for us.

In many coastal regions across Southeast Asia, plastic waste has quietly overwhelmed natural ecosystems. Some countries generate tens of thousands of metric tons of plastic waste every day, with up to a third of it leaking into the open environment — seeping into rivers, winding through neighborhoods, and eventually spilling into the sea. The result: coastlines choked with debris, coral reefs suffocating, and marine life struggling to survive beneath a layer of human neglect.

It’s a heavy, painful truth — one that sits beneath the surface of even the most beautiful places.
Because the parts of the ocean we don’t show… are drowning in what we’ve left behind.

I hope this NFT will be a quiet but lasting reminder that the ocean is not just scenery — it’s life.
And it’s our responsibility to take care of it before we lose it completely.
