Using 3D printing to reproduce highly textured…

Using 3D printing to reproduce highly textured multi-layered artwork? Novice needing advice!

I want to ask the 3D printing community for some advice on reproducing my artwork. For years, I have been searching for a way to accurately replicate my paintings, which are heavily textured, multi-layered pieces made from wood and paint that are built up to a thickness of around 6 to 7 cm.

In the past, I have tried standard digital ink printing, but it completely fails to capture the character of the artworks.

I am completely new to 3D printing, but I am wondering if this technology could offer a solution. While I assume full-color reproduction might not be feasible, a solid-color, high-detail print that I could manually paint over afterward would be great.

The final pieces will be displayed inside glazed frames, so they don't need to be incredibly robust, but the material does need to withstand standard brushstrokes and handling during the painting process.

Because I have zero background in this field, I would love some guidance on how the full workflow would look, if this sort of thing is even possible.

Thank you for your help 🙏
