Thoughts on portrayal of motorcycles in The Pitt?

The Pitt is a very popular medical drama on HBO right now and one of the main characters is an ER doctor who rides a motorcycle. In the opening scene of the first episode of the second season he is riding without a helmet and passing a truck over a double yellow line on a bridge. Basically, the suggestion is that he has a death wish and the motorcycle becomes a symbol of that throughout the show. Everyone is trying to talk him out of a moto trip sabbatical he is planning to embark on at the end of the shift with all the stereotypes you might expect about toxic masculinity, mid-life crisis, selfishness etc. It's one of my favorite shows right now but I roll my eyes sometimes as they seem to reinforce the popular perception that motorcycling is a stupid thing to do and those that do it are seeking their own demise. Wondering if anyone else who has seen the show has thoughts on this?
