🎂 WELL, LOOK WHO’S 28 TODAY… 👀
Opened Google this morning and was greeted by a little blast from the past.
Apparently Google is celebrating its 28th birthday today , and for the occasion they’ve brought back one of those wonderfully clunky, colourful early logos. 😂❤️💙💛💚
And suddenly I’m reminded there was a time when we didn’t say:
“Just Google it.”
We asked somebody.
We looked in an encyclopedia.
We searched through a phone book.
We got hopelessly lost and actually had to stop and ask for directions . 😏😂
Now this little search box has become part of everyday life — recipes, translations, random midnight questions, “what plant is this?” , “why is my computer doing THAT?” and the occasional search that begins innocently and somehow ends three hours later on a page about ancient Roman plumbing. 🙈
28 years of Google. 🎉
So now I’m curious…
👉 What did you use to find information BEFORE Google?
Encyclopedias? Libraries? Ask your parents? Ask the neighbour who supposedly knew everything? 😂
And perhaps the more dangerous question:
Can you remember the first thing you ever Googled? 👀

There was definitely a certain charm to that early, simpler era of the web. Time flies..
When I think about how long Google has been around, I instantly begin to reminisce about my start in the computer world as a fledgling programmer waaaaaay back in 1986. The computers I worked on as a kid were huge by today's standards and less powerful than a cell phone. We've definitely come a long way since then. My classroom computer server was as big as a small truck, and now server rooms are larger than entire residential areas. It makes you wonder, what does the future hold for us?
