For Those Who Have Read Lolita, How Did You Get Through…

For Those Who Have Read Lolita, How Did You Get Through?

So for context, I F18 am in an AP Literature and Composition class for my senior year of high school and we had to select a novel to read over the course of a month to help us prepare for the exam as there is an essay we must write on the exam that relies on outside literature knowledge. We also in-class must complete a project detailing much of the characters, settings, plot, etc. of the novel we have chosen to help us gain a better understanding of it as a whole.

As I was reviewing the list of books we could choose from, I came across *Lolita* by Vladimir Nabokov and in doing research decided that with Humbert Humbert's character being an unreliable narrator and so much of what happens in the novel, it would be a really good pick to read specifically for the test, not for my own personal enjoyment but that I could manage to get through it. I was wrong.

I am just under two weeks from the project being due and have only been able to force myself to read 11 chapters because I cannot stand the topic like I thought I could. To finish this on time, I have to read basically 5 chapters a day and I can hardly fathom the idea because it is just so disgusting to me. So I come to ask if there is anyone who maybe fell into a similar situation of starting the book and had to force themselves to finish it or if there are people who have read it fully and can give some sort of perspective that I can look at it besides just for literary merit because that is not pulling me through currently. Call me stupid, call me an idiot, just help me out here because I cannot fail this class.
