Started avoiding my full-time student classmate for my sanity

I started avoiding my full-time student classmate/friend in law school after noticing some changes in her behavior.

I used to share a lot of things with her, tips, my observations from our classes and professors, like how I noticed that our Consti 1 prof tends to focus on doctrines when asking questions. I’d also share downloaded cases I found from eSCRA, etc.

I just got a little sad last Saturday when I noticed that the seat beside her was already reserved. I honestly thought she had reserved it for me, like how we used to do it depending on who got to the room first. So I was like, “Oh, okay…” Only to find out that the seat was actually reserved for another classmate. Hahaha.

She also barely talked to me or acknowledged me that day and seemed more engaged with another classmate who also loves discussing cases. I know, it might sound like such a small thing, but I guess it just felt different because of how we used to be.

Then there was this little pasaring about how expensive gas has gotten after she drove me home before. Tbf, she was the one who offered to drive me home hahaha. I have a car too, but I’m just too lazy to bring it because parking is always a struggle, and I only live about 1 km away from law school, so I usually commute.

Last night, I asked her if she had read the assigned cases left. She said, “OO, nabasa ko yun noh, di mo nabasa?” I just shrugged and said, “Di ko nabasa,” then started cramming through the digests I made. Was able to survive naman yung recit that night.

We’re also in very different situations. She’s a full-time student, while I’m working full-time, studying full-time, and living alone. So technically, I don’t really have anyone to rely on. I guess I just don’t want to start feeling inferior or compare myself to my full-time student classmates, especially when I know they probably don’t even intend to make me feel that way.

I’m trying to remind myself that we simply have different circumstances. She has more time to study, while I have a full-time job and an entire life to manage outside law school. I just don’t want to constantly feel like I’m falling behind because I’m comparing myself to people who have a completely different setup.

So for my own peace, I brought my car last night. I sat in another seat and left without saying goodbye to them.

Anyway, to all the working students out there, hahaha, I honestly don’t know. Palakasan na lang talaga ng immune system and prayers. (Although I don’t go to church anymore)

Good luck to us! We’ll survive this somehow.
