I found my late grandad’s pen. His first journal is dated…

I found my late grandad’s pen. His first journal is dated 1948, a year after this pen was released. It still had ink in it which was visible after cleaning with a few pumps of warm water, although it was faded. I bought new ink. It’s working just fine. No restoration. Almost 80 years of use.

The old ink was likely loaded into the pen in the 1980s-00s. This is new ink. It still was able to write with the old ink after adding water to clean, but it was faded and obviously diluted. The water loosened the old ink. New ink loaded in just fine. It has been used so much that the metal cap has worn down in areas. He was that kind of person.

Just to add: after this I did watch a restoration video and carefully deconstructed the pen to clean it. The nib says 1947 on it!
