Alex Eala and the Difference Between Being Kind and Being Nice

Being **kind** means genuinely caring about another person’s well-being and being willing to help, support, or consider them. Kindness can sometimes require effort, sacrifice, or even doing something that isn't pleasant because it is ultimately good for the other person. In that sense, kindness goes deeper than simply being nice.

Being **nice** means being pleasant, friendly, polite, and agreeable toward others. It is often expressed through good manners, friendly words, smiles, compliments, and making others feel comfortable. Being nice is mainly about how you treat people in your interactions.

How many of us are afraid to say something when someone crosses a line because we're afraid of being judged? Sometimes, we choose to remain nice and passive because we don't want to create an uncomfortable situation or be perceived negatively.

What I saw from Alex Eala was a good reminder that **kindness doesn't mean staying silent when something is inappropriate**. There are moments when you need to speak up and set a boundary, even if doing so is uncomfortable.

At 22, she showed that maturity isn't just about being polite and agreeable. It's also about knowing when something needs to be said and having the courage to say it appropriately.

And man, honestly, **for me, this is the kind of woman I would want as a wife.** Imagine you're away working while your wife is taking care of your children, and one of your kids starts doing something wrong. You'd want a wife who doesn't simply ignore it or stay passive because she's afraid of upsetting the child. You'd want someone who has the courage to confront the situation, correct the child, and teach them right from wrong.

You don't have to be rude to be firm. You don't have to be hostile to confront someone. And you don't have to sacrifice kindness just because you're telling someone that their behavior isn't okay.

Sometimes, **being kind means having the courage to say something uncomfortable.**

>**Proverbs 27:5–6**
**^(5)** Better is open rebuke
than hidden love.
**^(6)** Wounds from a friend can be trusted,
but an enemy multiplies kisses.

Interesting take on kindness vs. Being nice. How do you see that playing out in everyday interactions?
