FYI - Available $/Grants to support health professions degrees
I get frustrated because so many students or those wanting to become health professionals are struggling to make ends meet and this info isn’t widely enough known!
This year the state was awarded $5B to support rural health over the next five years. A good portion of this money is earmarked for workforce development.
The state is funneling money to individual schools to pay tuition for health professions programs (rn, Md, pharmacy, etc) for students who agree to work in rural areas for five years after graduation. As the majority of the islands are considered rural, this is an easy ask to fulfill. I believe they’re paying 100% of tuition if you’re accepted.
I imagine there will be a lot more of the rural-type funding coming as time passes and programs get set up so keep asking your financial aid folks! It is their job to know and inform you. #local
