A Prayer for Owen Meany: Attack of the Semi-Colons
200ish pages in. Enjoying the story and very fond of Owen...
But John Irving's overuse of multi-clause sentences and semi-colons is really starting to irritate me. I think it might be because I read back-to-back Joan Didion books prior to this and her sentences are so short and crisp. But regardless, it's starting to distract me to the point that I want to throw in the towel.
Lovers of this book: is it worth pushing through for another 400 pages? Or should I cut my losses?
