Best orientation for printing a screwdriver shaft for strength.
I need to print some hexagonal screwdriver shafts that will insert into a handle. They will mostly be used for digging for minerals in dirt. I'm interested in the best orientation for strength. Material-wise, I have PLA, PETG, ABS and one of the firmer TPUs. PETG seems to be the best option of those I have.
For orientation, vertical seems like it would be the weakest. Horizontal across the bed would be better. Would you think that 45 degrees from the bed up (with appropriate supports) would be best?
Also, some suggest maxing out the walls (999) and going with as little as zero Infill would be the strongest (better than 100% infill). Your thoughts are greatly appreciated. #technology
