I grabbed this recently due to mention on a Life on Books podcast. Read it over the course of a couple of days.
It's a 1600 page book that's made up of pictures, very fragmented narratives, customer service chats, a metric fuckton of asterisks and Blank Pages. I don't think it's much like in terms of the stories the books are telling at all, but it at points has a passing resemblance to something like House of Leaves.
A lot of the narratives feel ripped from Matthew McIntosh's life. There are indiviual moments in the book that hit absolutely hard. Really it's those moments that feel so incredibly raw that the book works, but there's so much of it that a lot of it just falls flat like a lot of photo montages, censor bars and the aforementioned fuckton of asterisks. I feel like i have to wade through so much. luckily the book has a very fast pace so it's not long until you hit a section of good to great writing.
I question the need for it to be this length, but also isn't the length the whole fucking point?
