LPT - If you use a dashcam, security camera, or any other application where data is saved all the time, only use 'Max Endurance / Pro Endurance' memory cards. Any other can wear out in writes far faster than you might think, and the data could then corrupt almost as soon as its written.
This is because flash memory due to the high amount of electrical energy needed to program the flash memory cell decays the oxide layer of the charge trap with every program/erase cycle. Dashcams by nature loop over the whole card again, and again. The endurance of cheapo / bog standard flash cards can be as low as 75TBW for a 128GB card, or less if its a smaller size using QLC flash.
This actually happened to a family member, an accident where a cyclist pulled in front. The video turned out to be corrupt but the cyclist was chill and admitted fault and nothing further happened. I had to explain to said family member a bit about how flash memory works and that endurance cards are needed, its not the manufacturer 'ripping you off' for a more expensive card of the same size. SanDisk Max Endurance or Samsung Pro Endurance use pMLC flash (two bits per memory cell) and the 256GB version boasts over 1,600 TBW rating before it wears out.
Worn flash retains data far worse than fresh flash, but I have seen even cheapo but genuine 128GB genuine QLC fresh flash decay data to the point checksums change in a year (reproducable, the memory still functioned fine on a rewrite), but other makes with TLC be fine and that was one without heavy writes.
Is YOUR dashcam card worn out? Write some files to it and see if they are still readable in a month or two; though in the case of my family members card, the decay happened within hours as it was badly worn out well above the rating but would still work/format. Use of any generic non endurance card in a dashcam voids the warranty if the write rating has been exceeded.
