I really want to come out to my family. I have a pretty good relationship with my dad when it comes to these personal things, but he’s very stubborn about his views. He was raised in Mexico by his abusive grandparents who pushed religion very heavily and treated the idea of homosexuality as blasphemy. It’s safe to say he wouldn’t take it well. Ge has the big toxic masculinity thing going on with him and the tried to help him as much as I can, but it doesn’t work. The thing is, I’ve finally been able to talk to him about what I went through with depression and suicide. One of the main drivers for those issues during that time was coming to terms with my own sexuality, but fearing the ostracism that would come from within my home and my social circle. I’ve known I wasn’t straight since I was extremely young. The idea of only being able to go for one gender never made any real sense. I’m completely okay with my sexual identity now and I’ve come out to a few people. Mainly friends, but I have come out to my younger sister who is eons more understanding than anyone else in this house. It just feels like I should come out to him after I finally told him about what happened. Then again, the only reason I told him and my mom was because my younger sister started to do some SH and I didn’t want them to handle her situation horribly, so I told them what happened to me to try and give them the best possible way of handling her. I’m only really wanting to come out to my dad right now before I tell my mom. Even though he has his, quite frankly, major flaws, I still trust him. Is that too naive? Any advice is appreciated. Thank you. #lifestyle source
