Fun fact: the high-school joke that homophobes are closeted queers turns out to be somewhat true. so...
If you ask a queerphobe what they would do if they came to the sudden realization that they were themselves queer, they almost always say that they would suppress the feelings and continue to act cishet.
So... THEORETICALLY... 100% of queerphobes are closeted queers. And the reason they attack us is that they are envious of the fact that we are out, proud, and happy with who we are.
And no, I'm not joking. Here https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/8772014 is a study, from the national library of medicine, and it clearly states "Homophobia is apparently associated with homosexual arousal that the homophobic individual is either unaware of or denies.
