Microsoft bricks peoples installs of Office 2019 for Mac, recommends “Buy a new subscription plan or use a web version” as the fix

Office 2019 for Mac was a one time purchase software that i spent about $200 on. Now it is 2026, an issue with the certificate files it uses means it will stop working. Microsoft refuses to update my otherwise perfectly working paid for software because it is “out of support”, even though its a simple patch that could be done in 5 minutes. They instead recommend I use the web version (which sucks) or accept the loss and start a $100 per year MS365 subscription.
This is literally forced obcelesence for software that works perfectly fine.
