How does discord forward a server invite to the local client without deep linking?

When websites want to open apps, eg zoom url links, you will get an intent pop-up in the browser with “site would like to open app x” but on discord server invite urls, discord seems to bypass this stage and directly open the app. Is this an exploit? How can i replicate this?
