Who owned this gun? What does this emblem mean?
Westley-Richards, double barrel, large bore percussion pistol, with captured ramrod. Commonly known as "Howdah" pistol. Cased with bullet mold for round bullets. Mold has markings WD and the number 17. There are two extra nipples, powder flask, and bore cleaning tools in the case. L.O.A=13.5 inches. Some engraving on lock plates. I doubt it was used in these battles but is a token of recognition for partaking in these battles. Either a person's family crest or regimental crest. The battles were of Moodkee - December 18, 1845 and battle of Ferozesha - December 21, 1845. (spelling may be a letter or two off as it's hard to read the script) these battles were during The First Anglo-Sikh War fought between the Sikh Empire and the British East India Company in 1845 and 1846 around the Firozpur district of Punjab. India.
