LPT: If you're terrible at remembering names, repeat the person's name out loud within the first 10 seconds of meeting them.

I used to be that guy who'd forget someone's name literally before they finished introducing themselves. It was embarassing, especially at work events where everyone expects you to just know people. Someone told me this trick about a year ago and it genuinely changed things for me. When someone says "Hey I'm Marcus" I immediately say something like "Nice to meet you Marcus, how long have you been with the company?" It sounds natural, doesn't feel weird for the other person, and by the time you've said their name once out loud your brain actually has something to hold on to. The key is doing it early, like in that first exchange, because if you wait you'll already have lost it. I also started pairing the name with something visual when I can, like if someone's named Jade I picture the color, if it's Mike I think of someone I already know named Mike. Together these two things made me go from forgetting almost everyone to actually remembering most people I meet at events or through work. Small thing but it makes people feel respected when you use their name later in the conversation and it saves you from that awful "heyyy youuu" moment we all know too well.
