Best home ecosystem for frugal people? Amazon vs Google vs Apple

I’m trying to figure out what the most frugal home ecosystem is long term.

Right now I use Amazon Echo devices (Alexa), and I also have a Nest thermostat and a Ring security system. So I’m kind of split between Amazon and Google already.

If you were starting over, or just trying to optimize for value, which ecosystem makes the most sense financially?

I’m mainly thinking about:

* Smart home integration (lights, plugs, thermostat, doorbell, etc.)
* Long term costs (subscriptions, device upgrades, hidden fees)
* Reliability and longevity of devices
* Music options without paying for a subscription

For music specifically, I refuse to pay for Spotify, Apple Music, etc. I’m fine with legal free options, ads are okay, just not overwhelming. Are any ecosystems better for:

* Free music streaming with fewer ads?
* Playing your own MP3 library?
* Casting from your phone easily?

Apple seems expensive upfront, but maybe it’s more stable long term? Google seems flexible? Amazon feels cheapest hardware-wise, but maybe more subscription-driven?
