I came across a question that made me think about how much influence we give other people over our lives.
Are we really worried about what others think of us, or are we worried about what we think of ourselves and simply using others as the excuse?
Think about that for a moment.
Throughout my years of coaching, I have met so many people who hesitate to pursue something they truly desire because they fear being judged. They worry about looking foolish, being rejected, or disappointing someone.
But I have learned that sometimes the judgment we fear most isn't coming from anyone else. It is coming from within ourselves. We question our abilities, our appearance, our intelligence, and whether we are good enough. Then we imagine everyone else sees those same imperfections.
And before anyone even says a word, we have already rejected ourselves.
What fascinates me is how easily we can turn our own insecurities into someone else's opinion without ever knowing what that person actually thinks.
I believe this is where awareness becomes so important.
The next time you hesitate because of what someone might think, ask yourself whether they have actually judged you or whether you are projecting your own judgment onto them.
And if someone does judge you, does that really determine your worth?
Your True Self doesn't require everyone else's approval. It requires your willingness to recognize your own value without constantly putting it on trial.
Maybe the freedom you have been searching for isn't about getting others to see you differently.
Maybe it begins when you finally stop seeing yourself through the eyes of an imaginary critic.
