There's a Man Who Sits on the Corner Waving. I'm Still Too Scared to Take That Road Again.
I have to post this here. I just need to get it off my chest. Maybe someone will tell me I'm just seeing things. Maybe I'm going crazy.
I don't know.
Well... here's my experience with the Corner Man.
My name's Henry. I live in Logan City, Australia, in the suburb of Waterford. I work at a fast food place about a twenty-minute drive from home. I work the night shift, usually from 10 p.m. until 3 a.m., so I'm always driving home late, tired and absolutely exhausted. So what I'm about to tell you might just be my imagination.
I honestly hope it is.
Anyway, on the way home I always take this back road. It has this massive sharp corner just off the main road. It saves me a few minutes because I don't have to stop at all the traffic lights.
I've been taking that road ever since I moved here. It's quicker... and if I'm being honest, it makes it easier to avoid police if I'm speeding home because I just want to get to bed.
It all started at the beginning of this year, back in January.
I was driving home after another long night at work when I noticed someone standing on the corner.
Just a man.
He didn't really stand out. He was wearing long pants, a long-sleeve shirt and a jacket. I couldn't make out much else because there aren't any streetlights there, and my headlights are honestly pretty rubbish.
The first night I didn't think much of it. But then he kept showing up. Every night for about a week. Then he disappeared. Then the week after he was back again.
There wasn't any pattern to it. Sometimes he'd be there, sometimes he wouldn't.
I didn't really think anything of it because people do live around there. Not many, but enough that seeing someone walking around late at night isn't impossible.
Eventually I started calling him the Corner Man.
It was just a stupid nickname.
Then everything changed.
I was driving home like normal, actually wondering if I was going to see my special little friend tonight.
Sure enough...
He was there.
Only something was different.
Normally he'd just stand there staring at me while I drove past.
This time...
He smiled.
I don't know why it creeped me out so much because it wasn't one of those creepy horror movie smiles. It looked... normal. Like the sort of smile you'd give someone walking past you. But something about it made my skin crawl.
I sped up a little because I just wanted to get past him.
Then the bastard waved.
Just this slow little wave.
I looked away for literally a second to make sure I wasn't drifting into the other lane.
When I looked back...
He was right beside my driver's window.
Still smiling.
Still waving.
I nearly lost control of my bloody car. I swear he was so close I could've reached out and touched him.
Then, as soon as I cleared the corner...
He was gone.
Just...
Gone.
I got home, ran inside, locked the front door and every other door in the house.
Ghost. Person. I don't care what he was.
I wanted absolutely nothing to do with it.
Eventually I went to bed.
That's when I had the nightmare.
I was driving that same road again. Everything happened exactly the same. The smile. The wave. Everything.
Only this time, the second I cleared the corner...
He took off.
Not running.
Sprinting.
Straight after my car.
He was laughing.
I don't even know how to describe it. It wasn't loud. It wasn't quiet. It just sounded... wrong.
I floored it.
The road just kept going.
It felt like it stretched on forever.
No matter how fast I drove, he stayed right beside my window.
Still smiling.
Still laughing.
Then he reached straight through the glass like it wasn't even there. He grabbed my arm. With one pull he ripped me out of the driver's seat.
The car door came with me.
That's when I woke up.
Ever since that night I haven't taken that road again.
Maybe it was just a nightmare.
Maybe my brain was just trying to make sense of what I saw.
Or maybe...
It wasn't a nightmare at all.
Maybe it was a warning.
Whatever the reason was, I'm never taking that road again. And if you're from the area, I seriously recommend you avoid that road with your life. #entertainment source
