Learning to ride at 36/first bike recs
Hey y’all. I’m 36 and I want to start riding again. I had a bike for a hot minute in my 20s, but I had about 5 minutes of instruction from my roommate and I rode a Suzuki VZ800. Pretty beefy for a first bike and a completely inexperienced rider.
I want to get back on the bike for commuting purposes. I’m sick of wading through traffic. My commute is mostly flat city streets. There are some very hilly areas, but I usually avoid them. It’s also very highway-dependent around here, but I will also avoid highways to start with because they are terrifying.
What would be a good first bike? I like the cruiser or scrambler style. I’ve looked at a Honda Shadow, Royal Enfield 350, or a Honda SCL500. Budget is about $7k. Thanks!
