I don't understand the Catan acclaim
Every time I play this game, there is a player that just loses all agency in the first few turns. It becomes just about impossible for them to make a come back, which means they also have a chance of just being unable to even play the game if they don't get good dice rolls.
I understand this was early heavier gameplay or whatever but this game is sorta... Bad. I guess it's not held in as high esteem still but why does it endure when there are so many more euro options now that outshine it in so many different ways?
