Jeff Beck 1965 vs 2022 same sound and volume, the loudest guitarist on the planet said Ritchie Blackmore. Tony Iommi said Jeff had a certain technique, that was very difficult to match but disagreed with Richie's volume claim.
"Was Jeff insanely talented? yes, you don't want to challenge him to a guitar duel. But the loudest guitarist ever? no, and im sure Jeff would've agreed. Jeff didn't chase the volume, he chased the unknown places. An explorer that couldn't rest until he found them all, he discovered more than me and Ritchie ever will. Hell no guitarist's can last all the places he went to. Just listen to the whammy bar and his thumb is made ou of steel. Do you know that he broke it in the 80s?, he could've risked having to hang up the guitar. " - Tony Iommi
Jeff Beck is considered a pioneer of heavy metal due to his work in the late 1960s, particularly with the Jeff Beck Group and their 1968 debut album Truth. Featuring Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood, this album and its successor, Beck-Ola (1969), utilized heavy blues-rock, loud, distorted guitar riffs, and aggressive, high-energy performances that laid the foundation for hard rock and early heavy metal.
