🌀 Hurricane Lowell was forecast to pass near Hawaii’s western islands, prompting a hurricane warning for Kauai County and a tropical-storm warning for Oahu.
The National Hurricane Center said Lowell was expected to remain a hurricane at its closest approach. Forecasts placed the core over or just west of Niihau late Monday and early Tuesday.
🌧️ Forecasters warned of damaging winds, dangerous surf, flash flooding, mudslides and possible waterspouts. Rainfall could reach 16 inches in isolated parts of Kauai.
