Two divers reported missing off Tasmania's east coast have been found alive in waters off Bicheno.
Multiple boats and a police helicopter were involved in the search for the divers who failed to return from a dive at Bicheno on Saturday morning.
Police said the divers entered the water at Alligator Rock about 10:15am but failed to return as planned at 11am.
The alarm was raised just before midday.
Alligator Rock is just offshore from the popular coastal town of Bicheno.
Police said the divers, a 24-year-old woman, and a 25-year-old man, both from Howrah on Hobart's eastern shore were "rescued from waters at Bicheno" about 2:30pm.
The Bureau of Meteorology issued a marine wind warning at 10am for gales in the upper east coast forecast district.
Several dive clubs were due in the town this long weekend for an event called the Tasmanian Combined Clubs Weekend.
Local bakery owner Ian Cunliffe said winds in the area were "really strong".
"Horrendous, I'm not sure why they would be out there," he said.
"Forty-knot winds, so it's pretty rough out there."
"Get in closer, it might have been OK, but I know I wouldn't be going out."
